MSA's Stephanie Sciullo Recognized with Inaugural 2017 In-House Counsel Award

PITTSBURGH, May 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Stephanie Sciullo, Deputy General Counsel and Director of Litigation for global safety equipment manufacturer MSA Safety (NYSE: MSA), has been recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times as one of the 10 most accomplished in-house attorneys in the Western Pennsylvania region.  Ms. Sciullo will accept her In-House Counsel General Excellence award at a formal reception at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh on May 17.

MSA’s Stephanie Sciullo Recognized with Inaugural 2017 In-House Counsel Award

"Stephanie is an integral and invaluable part of MSA's legal team – and MSA overall – and we are incredibly proud of her for being recognized with this well-deserved distinction," said Douglas McClaine, MSA's Senior Vice President, Secretary and Chief Legal Officer. "As Deputy General Counsel and Director of Litigation, Stephanie has delivered multi-million dollar cost savings to MSA through innovative outside counsel management and by applying lean manufacturing principles to litigation management," he continued.  "Her commitment to MSA, to our mission that men and women may work in safety, and to the in-house legal community are truly commendable and worth emulating."

Ms. Sciullo, who works at MSA's headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pa., joined the company in 2010 after working for global law firm Reed Smith, LLC as an associate attorney specializing in litigation.

In addition to her MSA responsibilities, Stephanie has worked to better the Pittsburgh in-house legal community as a leader in the industry and as an advocate for gender equity. As an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University, Stephanie designed a course offered at both schools – called In-House Counsel in Modern Corporations – to encourage business-minded action in the legal community.

Just last year, Stephanie launched a Women's Negotiations Workshop where women law students learned to negotiate compensation, promotion, case responsibility, and client exposure opportunities to help develop empowered women lawyers in our Pittsburgh legal community. She is a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in politics and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.

The inaugural In-House Counsel Awards, established in collaboration with the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, acknowledges the significant role in-house counsel plays in the success of a business enterprise, and recognizes those attorneys – or teams of attorneys – that use legal skills to achieve excellent business outcomes. In addition to the recognition, Stephanie and the other honorees will be featured in the Friday, May 19 issue of the Pittsburgh Business Times.
